Gerald Lewis, Science and Chemistry Teacher
Memorial services for Gerald Rodger Lewis, age 77, of Chandler are scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at Autry Funeral Home chapel, Jacksonville, with the Rev. David Hallum and the Rev. Dan Chase officiating.
Mr. Lewis passed away Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012, in Chandler.
He was born Aug. 5, 1935, in Pecos.
Mr. Lewis was a member of First Methodist Church in Irving, served in the National Guard and was a chemistry and science teacher at Irving High School for 34 years. He was an engaging and dedicated teacher who made a deep and lasting impression on entire generations of IHS students.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben Rodger Lewis and Jetteye Banks Lewis.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Nash Lewis of Chandler; son, Shane Lewis of Austin; daughter, Amy Grant of Irving; granddaughter, Amber Brittany Smith of Irving; sister, Alene Barton of Kent, Wash.; nephew, Max M. Barton of Kent, Wash.; and niece, Sheryl Hanson of Edum Claw, Wash.
Visitation with the family will be from 2 p.m. to service time Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
