James Robert Shafer

James Robert Shafer, age 62 of Irving passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2013.  He was born premature, weighing only two pounds on May 22, 1951 in Dallas to Johnnie and Nelda Shafer. James graduated from Irving High School in 1969 and knew his way around the metroplex and past and present establishments so well that he was known as a human GPS to family and friends. He was a real people person and that helped him in his careers as a service tech in the copy machine business and as a service manager in the automotive repair business. James loved music, photography and eating good food. He edited and published the Denison Family newsletter for several years, he had a way of making words come alive. James loved life and loved his family, he will be greatly missed.  Survivors include, sisters, Ann Shafer, Sue Hart and husband Chuck; niece, Susan Hart Pigrenet and husband Toy; great niece and nephews, Blake, Brent, Brittany and Chase Pigrenet; great-great nephew, Bryson Buehler.  A Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 28th at Chism-Smith Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society of North Texas.

Cindi (Cynthia) Dixon

I had some classes with James & he was always friendly, affable & on occasion, a little bit quirky. Don't think James attended our 40th reunion, but we connected on Facebook.

RIP, James. You left us too soon.
