I didn't know Denise very well, but I remembered her athletic prowess. She also had a very warm smile & was always friendly to me.

Denise, I'm honored to have known you. So glad that you had lots of love around you when you rose to the next level.

Please remember us and we will never forget you.

Copied from a post by Marion Lees Franke in the "Thoughts and Prayers" User Forum: I got the word from Denise's sister to get to Dallas as fast as possible on Wednesday afternoon. I flew to Dallas from Houston and arrived at the hospital at 8:00 PM on Wednesday night. I was able to sit by Denise's side through the night and she died peacefully on Thursday afternoon at 12:30 . It was a gift from God and a priviledge to be holding her hand as she transitioned to her Lord and Savior. Denise was a very special lady and even her oncologist stayed with her though the night which is absolutely unheard of. He told me that she is one in a million. Everyone felt like they were Denise's best friend and they probably were. All I know is that I was her oldest friend and I loved her immeasurably. Denise loved her visits from Ginger and Judy and also Kay Dunaway. I told her of the great messages sent from Debbie, Johnny, Jimmy, Doug, Tim, Beverly, and many others. There were over one hundred people at the viewing even though there was no time for an announcement in the newpaper. Her services were just as she wished and Janice Brown Wagner did just an outstanding job as minister. Denise's beloved dogs Stella and Honey were present with their new owners. It was such a tribute to Denise that she had 6 friends with her as she died that she had known for 42 years and longer. The world will just not have as much fun and laugher since Denise is gone. My thanks to Judy, Kay, and most especially Ginger for being there for Denise and for being there for me. I will always appreciate it from the bottom of my heart.

I got to know Denise while we were in Horizon Club together for a couple of years. I remember her wry humor and pretty smile. She was always happy and outgoing.
Sadly,we drifted apart after graduation. I wish we'd kept in touch. I'm glad she was surrounded by friends as she graduated once again. Denise, you will be missed.
