I'm very sorry to learn aolut Bob's passing.  He was a sweet and kind-hearted guy and a good friend of mine in high school.  Two great experiences we had:

Sophomore year, our class homecoming float had a large papier-mache globe that we wanted to have rotate during the parade.  We couldn't figure out how to get it to rotate, so Bob agreed to get inside it and walk in a circle throughour the parade.

Second semester sohpomore English class, we were studying English literature.  Bob and i worked together for our English lit. project to build a life-sized pillory.  We took it to school one night and set it in the courtyard outside Ms. Terry's sophomore English classroom.  Shool newspaper photographer thought it was cool and wanted a picture.  Bob and I persuaded Ms. Terry to pose with her head and arms closed in the pillory.  As soon as we closed in on her neck and wrists, I locked the padlock and pretended to throw away the key.  Ms. Terry had a fit, but Bob thought it was hilarious.  Somehow we didn't get expelled.

I kept up with Bob for several years with birthday wishes but lost touch with him in recent years.  I'll miss his humor and sweetness.

It is nice to remember Bob and sad he has left us. I have, on a number of occasions over the years, told this story. He was simply a good guy!  Like a handful of other classmates, I got to know you much better our Sophomore year before Homecoming and the construction of our prizewinning Parade Float. Snuffy Smith Motors was gracious to let us use their facility. We put a lot of work into a really neat design and construction of our big Global vision, 'Around The World'. Bob was small of stature and offered to walk inside the globe to keep it turning the whole parade route!!  He was my hero that day and I'm sure his life was forever changed as well. Rest in Peace until we meet again old friend.
Hey Salty!  Happy to see that Bob and the float is a memory for you too!..:). I'm sure to many!

Bob told me that he was on a road trip, maybe spring break, our senior year, saw 2 bumper stickers and put them together in his head to form the now-infamous "Flower Power, Sex And Wine! We're The Class Of '69!" motto.

I remember it being announced as the new class motto in the "Fools' Edition" on April 1, 1969 Tiger Rag. I sure wish I could find a copy of that edition.

Bob and I have been friends for more years than either of us could say, he was family. I have so many fun and crazy memories of times with Bob and they all bring a smile (or sometimes a grimace)...he will live on in our memories....                                                                                                                                                            His memorial service was yesterday, I believe he would have approved.  The Eulogy was given by a niece and nephew, who shared lots of fond memories, and fittingly  funny stories that brought both a ripple of laughter (it was Bob they were talking about) and a few tears, as they recounted both the goodtimes and the many medical and physical challenges he had faced and dealt with - it typical Bob fashion - for last nearly 30 years.

After reading some of the posts, I thought his wife, Sandra, sons, Scott & Chris  and  other family members would enjoy reading the comments, so I hope you don't mind but I have copied and passed them along.
